  • Marbella is the capital of the Costa del Sol. One of the world's best-known towns, its incredible microclimate makes it one of the most visited towns in Spain, attracting the largest amount of foreign investment. The town has been substantially transformed over the last ten years, changing from a small summer resort into a town with infrastructures worthy of an international capital. It has the advantage of being located between two airports: Gibraltar, through which most British tourists pass, and Malaga international airport. Its very "nomadic" population, both Spanish and foreign, has increased the number of shopping centres to a point which would have been unthinkable only a few years ago. The town's main street is the former national highway, Avenida Ricardo Soriano. Unlike other Spanish towns, the historical section of the town is set aside for small businesses and restaurants.
