Orléans benefits from an active economic region. The town centre is concentrated in the historical area of Orléans, on the right bank of the Loire river. It branches out from the banks of the river and spreads over the axis formed by the rue Royale and the rue de la République, to the Place d’Arc SC, major commercial centre of the city. Already confronted with competition from the capital, the town centre has lost some of its appeal during the creation of the tramway network which benefits outlying stores. The sales offer on the outskirts is dominated by two hubs alongside the RN 20, one to the north surrounding the Carrefour Saran, the other to the south surrounding the Auchan Olivet as well as Auchan Saint Jean de la Ruelle, to the west, the biggest SC in the suburbs. To the south of the Auchan Olivet hub, the Provinces SC (including the Leclerc Olivet superstore) should continue to develop.
Orléans dispose d''un bassin économique actif. Le centre ville commercial est concentré dans la partie historique de Orléans, sur la rive droite de la Loire. Il s''articule depuis les quais, autour de l''axe formé par la Rue Royale et la rue de la République, jusqu''au centre Commercial Place d''Arc, équipement commercial majeur de la ville. Déjà confronté à la concurrence de la capitale, le centre ville a subi une certaine désaffection lors de la création du réseau de tramway au profit des équipements de périphérie. L''offre de périphérie est dominée d''une part par deux pôles d''activité en bordure de la RN 20, l''un au nord autour du Carrefour Saran, l''autre au sud autour de Auchan Olivet et d''autre part, Auchan Saint Jean de La Ruelle, à l''ouest, le plus grand des centres commerciaux de périphérie. Au sud du pôle Auchan Olivet, le Parc Commercial des Provinces (où se situe l''hypermarché Leclerc Olivet) devrait encore se développer.
