  • Behind Zurich, Basel and Luxembourg, Geneva is the city with the highest purchasing power worldwide and is known as the "city to shop par excellence". In streets like Rue du Rhône, Rue de la Confédération, Rue du Marché and the Rue de la Croix-d'Or are the elegant shopping miles, which are very close to each other. Main shopping centres in and around Geneva are CENTRE BALEXERT and LA PRAILLE. The international city, with 40% of its population from other lands remains open to people of different origins and culture and plays host to some 190 international organizations - e.g. the UN European headquarters. The large redevelopment project called PAV (Praille Acacias Vernets) which will spread on 230 hectares will certainly create new retail opportunities in the coming years.
