  • Liege is the most important city of Wallonia, geographically not far from the Netherlands (Maastricht) and Germany (Aachen and Köln). It is the third city of Belgium, with a catchment area of 573.000 inhabitants; the city's historical centre also houses the main commercial area, known as 'le Carré' because it is constituted of four shopping streets, forming a square. Because of it's very nature, all of these streets are fairly narrow, short and are mainly constituted of small buildings, making it difficult to create sufficiently large units (hence their relative higher cost).
