  • Although the city draws fewer tourists than Lisbon, and its resident population has less purchasing power, Porto has seen a large-scale expansion of its stock of shopping centres over the last ten years ( Norte Shopping (deemed to be Sonae best performing mall in Portugal), Arrabida, Via Catarina, Gaia Shopping, Parque Nascente, Camelias (leisure center) Nassica ). High street retail concentrates in Baixa with the Rue de Santa Catarina as main shopping pitch . High street retail has benefited over the last few years of more interest from trendy / medium-high end retailers .
