  • Warsaw has witnessed an incredible growth of its shopping centres over the last decade. In 2002, the new generation of shopping centres started with Galeria Mokotow (enlarged in October 2002), then Beg-Cefic (now Unibail) opened Wilanska Station shopping centre in April , which was built around a railway station, the first of this type in the country. September 2002, also saw the opening of Wola Park with over 73 000 sqm and 180 units. Warsaw was the first city in Poland to welcome a Factory Outlet Center (in Ursus by Neinver). Later in 2004, Beg-Cefic opened Arkadia shopping centre , with all the big european retailers. The opening of “Zolty Tarasy” by ING/RODAMCO (now Unibail) next to the main train station, has also impacted heavily on the downtown retailing of Warsaw. Two streets are still dominating the retail scene in Warsaw : Marszakowska and Nowy Swyat
