Nantes

The Nantes conurbation has always had a very high concentration of superstores around it. With twelve shopping centres on its outskirts, five of which are worth a billion, the town still has one of the highest densities of superstores in France, with a very strong historical presence of the Leclerc retail chain. The Atlantis and Paridis (recently renovated) and Beaulieu (recently extended) hubs, with the addition of modern and spacious shopping arcades, have modified the conurbation's range as well as its relationship with the town centre. The arrival of new retail chains in these shopping arcades is strengthening the very deleterious effects of the town's outskirts on town centre trade.
La ville de Nantes s'est toujours caractérisée par une très forte concentration en hypermarchés autour de son agglomération. Avec 12 centres commerciaux en périphérie, dont 5 milliardaires, la ville dispose encore aujourd'hui d'une des plus fortes densité en hypermarchés de France avec une très forte présence historique de l'enseigne LECLERC. Les récentes rénovations des pôles ATLANTIS et PARIDIS ainsi que la récente extension de BEAULIEU, ont modifié l'offre de l'agglomération et le rapport avec le centre ville. L'arrivée de nouvelles enseignes dans ces galeries commerciales renforce une présence déjà très pesante de la périphérie sur le commerce en centre ville.
