Strasbourg's trade benefits not only from the economic wealth of the Alsace region, but also from the presence of the European parliament and the proximity of the German frontier. Place Kléber, the historical heart of the city, is also the core of city-centre retailing, its attractiveness was recently reinforced with the new 'Aubette' shopping arcade. The Place des Halles shopping centre is itself very close to it. Rivétoile, another city-centre shopping centre project opens its doors in 2008. On the outskirts, the Cora Vendenheim shopping centre seems to be maintaining its dominant position, while the two Auchan sites at Hautepierre and Baggersee are also posting very good results.

La Place Kléber, cœur historique de la cité, est aussi celui du centre ville commerçant. Son attractivité a encore été renforcée par l'ouverture de la galerie Aubette. Le Centre Commercial Place des Halles en est très proche. Rivétoile, autre projet de Centre Commercial en centre ville ouvre ses portes en Octobre 2008. En périphérie, le centre commercial Cora Vendenheim semble conserver sa position dominante, avec les deux sites Auchan à Hautepierre et Baggersee enregistrant aussi de très bons résultats.
