MEDIACITE shopping & leisure centre, located in Liège, Belgium’s largest town, is part of a large multifunctional urban development. Extending to almost 6,5 hectares, it is the first BREEAM certified building in Belgium and the first European shopping and leisure centre certified under BREEAM Retail 2008 with a « Very Good » rating. The iconic architecture by renowned architect Ron Arad and the presence of various “first time in Belgium” retailers are additional elements of attraction for the city and its surroundings. On site, on the very threshold of the MEDIACITE shopping and leisure centre are two strong economic development centres, designed to generate employment as well as public interest: “Médiarives”, the new RTBF studios (Belgium’s French television network), as well as the Pôle Image de Liège, a media cluster. Spurred on by the success of MEDIACITE as a retail destination, Wilhelm & Co is currently planning a 1,800 sqm retail extension.
