- Silesia City Center is the largest new generation regional shopping & entertainment complex in the Katowice region. Its location is less than 2 km from the rynek (town square), so it competes directly with the downtown retailers and the existing shopping centres. It has been built on a former coal mine and several historical buildings have been kept such as the mining tower or the building occupied by Almi Decor. The best mix for retailers in the region and one of the best in Poland. In 2009, the shopping centre welcomed some 13 M people. An extension of 20.000 sqm for some 60 shops was inaugurated in October 2011 with new anchors like H&M, Van Graaf and Smyk. Investor : Immofinanz Group sold it in May 2013 for 412 M € to a consortium led by Allianz. The centre is now managed by ECE.
