Located in an industrial area to the east of the conurbation near the A 72, the Géant Monthieu SC is composed of a Géant Hypermarket and a shopping arcade with 30 stores. A major business park has developed opposite the SC, accommodating such retail chains as Darty, Kiabi, Gemo, Go Sport, Feu Vert, etc. (see PAC Géant Monthieu). This is in this sector that Ikea opened a store in september 2005. Once Saint Etienne's leading peripheral hub, it has since surrendered its dominant position to the Auchan Villars SC. An 10.000 sqm extension for 19 shops and 4 MS (including Fnac and New Yorker) was completed end 2017 . It will also be strenghtened by the Steel shopping centre developed by Apsys.
Situé à l'est de l'agglomération, à proximité de l'A 72, dans un environnement industriel, le C.C. Géant Monthieu, comprend outre l'hypermarché Géant, une galerie marchande de 30 boutiques dont une cafétéria Casino. En face du Centre Commercial, s'est développée une importante zone d'activités accueillant des enseignes telles que Darty, Kiabi, Gemo, Go Sport, etc. (voir PAC Géant Monthieu). C'est dans cette zone qu'Ikea a ouvert un magasin en septembre 2005. Premier pôle de périphérie implanté à Saint Etienne, il a depuis cédé sa position dominante au Centre Commercial Auchan Villars. Une extension de 10.000 m2 pour 4 MS et 19 boutiques(dont Fnac, New Yorker...) a été inaugurée fin 2017. Il sera aussi renforcé par l'ouverture de Steel, le centre commercial développé par Apsys.
