Westenhellweg

Dortmund´s has two main shopping streets, Westenhellweg and Ostenhellweg. They are separated by the market place and span the centre of Dortmund with a length of 1.2 km. Westenhellweg is a well developed and broad pedestrian zone. The western half predominantly houses clothing companies in modern architecture. While on the eastern side, jewellery and cosmetic stores have established themselves in older restored buildings. Since 2011, its attractivness has been reinforced with the opening of the Thier Galerie. In 2012, 12.950 people pass by in a hour, making it the most frequented street in Germany (JLL study). Forever 21 replaced H&M at n°40-46 in 2016 but closed one year later as the adjacent Pohland store to make place for the first Müller store in the city.
Der Westenhellweg ist eine großzügige Einkaufsstrasse in modernem Ambiente in der Fußgängerzone. Die westliche Hälfte bietet vor allem einen Mix an Bekleidungsgeschäften, während Schmuck- und Kosmetikläden in restaurierten Sandsteingebäuden im östlichen Teil an zu treffen sind.
