The entrance to this shopping zone is guarded by a monumental water tower, Mannheim´s famous landmark. Banks and big department stores are pumping in and out visitors to this street. Although this street measures 1 km in total, the main shopping zone only leads up to the Paradeplatz, which links this street with the Kurpfalzstrasse. Main anchors are here: C&A, Kaufhof, and P&C which was recently transfered and extended. The former P&C site now accomodates New Yorker, Vero Moda and an extension of H&M. The Commerzbank building was remodelled and now accomodates Müller. LBBW Immobilien has developed 2.500 sqm of retail in two levels in the "Palais auf der Planken" project to accomodate Reserved.
Der Zugang zu dieser Einkaufszone wird von einem monumentalen Wasserturm, dem Wahrzeichen Mannheims markiert. Banken und grosse Kaufhäuser garantieren einen ununterbrochenen Besucherstrom. Obwohl sie insgesamt 1 km misst, führt die frequentierteste Shopping-Zone lediglich bis zum Paradeplatz, von wo der Konsumentenstrom in die Kurpfalzstrasse gelenkt wird.
