City Mall Almere

Rem Koolhaas designed the masterplan for the "New City Center" of Almere, a growing town in the suburbs of Amsterdam (220 000 inhabitants in 2010). Shops : 70.000 sqm, leisure : 17.000 sqm (an 8-screen Utopolis cinema, night club, bowling alleys...). The City Mall Almere shopping centre is the main part of the retail offer. It was designed as a "traditional" city centre with most of the shops situated along pedestrian streets. One of the latest development was the remodelling of the former Metropole theatre which now accomodates Primark. Investor : Klepierre
