Europaviertel is a project combining residential housing, offices, retail and entertainment. The new district will be built on the grounds of the former cargo railway station by Vivico Real Estate and Aurelis in close co-operation with Frankfurt Messe (located right next to the scheme and which will be extended), with ECE for the shopping project management. A wide boulevard flanked by cafes and shops serves as the main traffic artery and public area. The whole scheme includes some 90.000 sqm of retail, entertainment, and restaurants. The administrative authorizations were granted in March 2008. The project is now called "Skyline Plaza". In Sept 2011, Allianz acquired a 80% stake of the shopping centre from ECE and CA Immo Deutschland (both keeping a 10% stake). Skyline Plaza is anchored by Peek & Cloppenburg (9.000 sqm) and Media Markt (6.000 sqm).
