The Ballonti project was developed by Eroski on a 150.000 sqm former industrial site in Portugalete near the A8. It includes a two-storey shopping and entertainment centre anchored by a 10.000 sqm Eroski hypermarket and a 6-screen multiplex cinema (which closed in 2013). 430 flats are also part of the scheme. Investment : 145 M Euros. It is said to be the last large shopping centre to be created in the region. Deka Immobilien acquired Ballonti for 116 M € in December 2010.
