- Brent Cross was the first covered shopping centre to be built in the UK in 1976, and was extensively refurbished in 1997. It is located to the north of London, at the junction of the M1 and the A406. It attracts 20 M people a year. There is a strong bias to high spending families who are driven by fashion and quality rather than price. The three-storey Brent Cross is anchored by John Lewis and Fenwick, with other significant tenants including M&S, Zara, H&M, WH Smith and Boots. A multi-use project of extension on a adjacent 6,6 h site is under way. It will include 55.000 sqm of retail, 20.000 sqm of leisure and 850 flats. Investors : Standard Life (59%)/Hammerson (41%). It was approved in 2010. The project includes the creation of new covered streets.
