- Grand Central is the redevelopment of The Pallasades centre, located within the heart of Birmingham in a prime location above New Street Station, having direct access on to New Street and Stephenson Street. The Cuty Council acquired the Pallasades from Warner Estates for 91 M £ in 2009 (which acquired it in 2005 from The Mall). The redevelopment of the centre included the creation of a 23.225 sqm John Lewis department store adjacent to the New Street station (which was also redeveloped). It now accomodates some 40 shops and 15 restaurants and cafés. It welcomes more than 60.000 visitors per day. Developers : Birmingham City Council/Network Rail. Hammerson acquired the scheme for £335 M in 2016 and sold a 50% stake soon after to the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB).
