  • The Glades, which opened in 1991, is a good example of a mixed-use development, incorporating a leisure centre and swimming pool, modern flats and a new church. It forms a major part of Bromley's shopping offer. With mall and retail links to the traditional High Street. It was extended in 2008 by 4.700 sqm including a 2.790 sqm H&M store. A new extension for 5 new restaurants is under way. In the meantime, another entertainment development is under way : creation of a 5-screen high-end cinema and new restaurant on the roof of the centre. Owners : Intu 63.5%; Aviva 21.5%; London Borough of Bromley 15%. The Centre was called Intu Bromley until October 2016, when Alaska Permanent Fund acquired the Intu's 63,5% stake for £ 177.9 M, as well as the Aviva's stake. The centre has then been rebranded with its original name The Glades and is now managed by JLL.
