- Royal Avenue is a prime located retail street within the heart of Belfast City Centre. At the Castle Street/Castle Place end of the road, there is a pedestrianised area with a Tesco, Santander and H&M. At this end there is also the Castle Court Shopping Centre. One of several entrances to the centre is on Royal Avenue and this creates a large footfall, especially in this specific area. The Primark building was destroyed by a fire in August 2018 and forced several other stores to close. The city centre then suffered a huge drop in footfall.
