- Albert Dock, on the Marsey River, was the first enclosed dock warehouse to be built in 1848. It closed in 1972. Its refurbishment was carried out by Arrowcroft Group and Merseyside Development Corporation to accomodate leisure and cultural activities : Tate Liverpool, the Beatles Story, Merseyside Maritime Museum, the International Slavery Museum, Shiverpool Ghost Tours, and The Yellow Duckmarine as well as 25 retail units and 12 restaurants. The scheme also includes offices, 115 luxury apartments and two hotels. Open 7 days a week, it welcomes some 5 M visitors per year. The Liverpool Echo Arena, the BT Convention Centre and the new commercial scheme Liverpool One are right next to it. Aberdeen Asset Management acquired the Albert Dock in January 2016 from Arrowcroft for 42,75 M £.
