- a major retail park is located just opposite the Lakeside shopping centre, right next the junction 31 of A13. It accomodates major anchors like Tesco, Ikea, B&Q, Decathlon...making with the shopping centre one of the largest shopping hubs in the country and in Europe (255.875 sqm of retail area). It is divided in several parts. Land Securities owns a part of it : Lakeside retail park (35.550 sqm - 26 units) Another part is the Thurrock shopping park (ex Junction Thurrock) owned by Hammerson and anchored by Decathlon (for more details see Thurrock shopping park). Currys opened the largest electrical store in the UK in Nov 2009 (6.500 sqm) before its American competitor Best Buy also opened on the site one of its stores in the country in 2010 (closed since).
