- Originally built in the mid 70's with a Presto supermarket as main anchor, the Denton Park Shopping Centre is a local shopping centre (approximatively 8 km West of Newcastle City centre) which has declined over the past decade as the supermarket closed and wasn't replaced. Rokeby Developments acquired it in 2000 and obtained outline planning permission for a redevelopment and extension of the scheme. In 2004, Morrisons acquired the site from Rokeby Developments which remained the developer of the project. The new shopping centre is anchored by a 7.060 sqm Morrisons store. It also accomodates a health centre which welcomes some 6.800 patients.
