Chester Northgate Development

Project of urban redevelopmemnt of the Northgate district, between King Street, St Martins Way, Watergate Street and Northgate Street. It will include department stores, shops, leisure activities and cafés. It also involves the relocation of the bus exchange.. The initial projects faltered because of the economic recession. End 2013 Cheshire West and Chester Council agreed to acquire the land and property assets of ING Real Estate (representing 85% of the land needed for the scheme). Rivington Land was selected as the new developer in July 2014. First phase will include the multiplex cinema, a food court, the market hall and a car park. Planning permission awarded in September 2016. Completion scheduled end 2020.
