- The Lichfield District Council launched a competition to revitalize the Birmingham Road area in Lichfield. Harrison Development and Development Securities PLC won the competition. The mixed use scheme was supposed to include 26.150 sqm of retail (a department store and some 45 shops), a 80-room hotel, a 6-screen cinema, office and residential areas. It is situated next to the Staffordshire University and just opposite the Lichfield City Rail station. Planning consent and CPO position secured. Development Securities took over the helm of Friarsgate from Harrison in 2013. The new scheme will offer 15.156 sqm of retail area and a 5-7 screen cinema and more residential dwellings.
