Plaza Mayor / Torremolinos

Originally Plaza Mayor was an entertainment centre located in a park, in the district of Bahia de Malaga (about 10 minutes far from the town centre) and anchored by a 20-screen Yelmo Cineplex and a 20-lane bowling. It particulary includes an hub of 35 restaurants and bars. Ikea opened a 27.000 sqm store next to it August 2007. An expansion of 18.750 sqm (some 58 shops, 1.130 new parking units) for a "classic" shopping centre was inaugurated in Sept 2008 under the name "Plaza Mayor Shopping". It accomodates most of the national and international "heavy-weights" fashion chains : C&A, Cortefiel, H&M, Mothercare, Zara... Ikea and the Bahia Sul retail park are located opposite to it. Developers : Sonae / Castle City. In 2011, the Sierra Fund acquired 100% of the shares. It will be completed in 2017 by the Malaga Designer Outlet, developed jointly by McArthurGlen and Sonae Sierra (30.000 sqm). First phase will offer 90 shops.
