Silverburn

Regional shopping centre located south of Glasgow, next to the junction 2 of the M77. It is a redevelopment of the former Pollok shopping centre (20.000 sqm).The single level shopping arcade is anchored by a Tesco hypermarket (which opened more than a year before the shopping centre in July 2006), Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and Next (the last three of them have two floors). Phase 2 "The Garden" opened March 2008. Silverburn aims to attract wealthy shoppers from affluent suburbs such as Newton Mearns, as well as the towns and villages in Ayrshire more than Glasgow downtown inhabitants. It welcomes almost 14 M visitors/year. Hammerson and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) acquired it from Retail Property Holdings Ltd (RPH)for £ 297 M end 2009 (50/50). A new extension of 10.700 sqm dedicated to leisure and anchored by a 4.600 sqm, 14-screen Cineworld cinema was inaugurated in June 2015.
